2026 Annual General Meeting: 3rd September
The Annual General Meeting of Milton Keynes Chess Club will be held on at 7:45pm in the Berrill Café at The Open University.

Members are asked to fill in the online form ahead of the AGM. The form covers attendance, club officer nominations, Bedfordshire League preferences, and the Cordon Trophy.

Proposed league rule changes
Rule 14: Proposed by Bedford Chess Club
A proposed change to rule 14, to be applied to the 2026/27 season and onward:
New rule 14: Sufficient chess clocks must be provided. The normal rate of play being all moves in one hour
and twenty minutesplustenthirty seconds per move. There will be no adjournments or adjudications.
Reasons given in support of this change:
- It will result in higher-quality endgames being played
- For games shorter than sixty moves (i.e. the vast majority of them), it will ease the time constraints for those who need to get home or vacate the premises promptly
- A thirty-second increment mandates that all moves are recorded, regardless of how little time is on the clock
